When most people think of EV charging, they think of power flowing in one direction — from the grid into the battery. Zivv's charging network was designed to do something far more sophisticated: make energy flow intelligently in both directions.
During off-peak hours, our charging hubs draw excess renewable energy from the municipal grid and store it in large-capacity buffer packs. When demand spikes, the hubs release stored energy back into the local distribution network, earning credits and actively stabilising voltage.
This Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability means every Zivv hub is simultaneously a charging station, a grid buffer, and a renewable energy asset. The hubs communicate with local utility substations in real-time via a proprietary protocol called ZivvGrid.
In the first six months of pilot deployment across three cities, Zivv hubs prevented 14 localised brownouts and reduced peak-hour grid stress by an average of 18%. Infrastructure that charges vehicles while protecting the cities that need them.
